Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach recently made a bold, somewhat contradictory prediction about star tight end Travis Kelce’s 2025 season. Although Kelce experienced a statistical decline in 2024, his impact on the team remains significant. Veach, who has witnessed Kelce become one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history, emphasized that Kelce’s value may not be reflected in traditional stats this coming season.
Increased public attention, largely due to Kelce’s relationship with pop icon Taylor Swift, has brought more spotlight to his off-field life. As Kelce navigates his second offseason with Swift and explores more opportunities beyond football, questions arise about how he’ll perform on the field. Still, Veach is confident in Kelce’s ongoing influence.
“You’ll see Travis have more of an impact,” Veach told the Kansas City Star. “Maybe not in production, but in how the offense functions.”
As Kelce ages and quarterback Patrick Mahomes adjusts his playing style, the offensive dynamic has shifted. According to Veach, the Chiefs’ game plan will look different from past years when Kelce was the central figure. Despite this evolution, Kelce’s presence still elevates the performance of teammates like Rashee Rice and rookie Xavier Worthy, just as he once did with Tyreek Hill.
Although Veach acknowledged Kelce’s declining stats, he emphasized the tight end’s intangible value. “It’s not about yardage or touchdowns anymore,” Veach said. “It’s about the way he makes us better as a team, and how he improves the players around him.”
Kelce continues to play a major role in the Chiefs’ offense, logging substantial snaps despite his age. Head coach Andy Reid has yet to place a snap limit on him, underscoring Kelce’s ongoing importance in Kansas City’s evolving offense.
