The Minnesota Vikings may choose to stir things up in the 2025 NFL Draft, potentially making bold decisions that could define General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s career. Following a successful free agency period, Adofo-Mensah has positioned the team with four picks in the upcoming draft.
According to ESPN’s Peter Schrager, the Vikings might use one of those selections to pick a running back, despite it not being an obvious area of need. Schrager specifically projected that Minnesota could take Omarion Hampton with the 24th overall pick.
“The Vikings have other needs and running back isn’t a glaring hole,” Schrager noted on April 23. “However, if Hampton is still on the board at that point, he’d be a great addition to a young core the team hopes will develop together over time.”
ESPN’s Kevin Seifert weighed in on social media, calling the idea of selecting a running back at No. 24 a “chaos pick,” and expressed support for such a move, indicating he wouldn’t oppose it.
Hampton is widely regarded as the second-best running back in this draft class and could bring significant value to Minnesota. His addition would not only give the Vikings another offensive weapon but also signal a willingness from Adofo-Mensah to make bold, unconventional moves if he believes they benefit the team’s long-term success.
