Hansen signs new two-year contract with Connacht and Irish Rugby

After playing his first Test match against Wales in February 2022, Hansen has amassed 27 green caps and scored 12 tries, solidifying his position as a vital member of Ireland’s back three.

As the team prepares for the Rugby World Cup in 2027, the Connacht winger’s dedication to Irish rugby through at least the end of 2026–2027 is another plus. He was nominated for the World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year Award in his first season at Test level.

Hansen has made 38 appearances for the Province since joining Connacht prior to the 2021–2022 campaign.

“I have loved my time since moving to Ireland, and I am delighted to sign this new contract,” Mack Hansen stated in response to today’s news.

It means a lot to me to play for Connacht in Ireland, and I believe that the systems and coaching here have helped me get better.

This season, I have a lot to play for, and I’ll be concentrating on finishing well for Connacht and Ireland. I am incredibly enthusiastic about the future and would like to thank the IRFU for believing in me.

IRFU Performance Director David Humphreys added: “As a mainstay of the Ireland and Connacht sides in recent years, securing Mack’s signature over the coming season is a huge boost for Irish rugby.

He is a proven performer, someone who wears his heart on his sleeve and delivers on the big occasion. He is also a crowd favourite for club and country.

We believe that there’s a lot more to come from Mack and I’m sure that he will continue his upward progress over the coming seasons.”
