Bears on a Mission: The Bold 30 Visit Move That Could Reshape Their Defense

The Bears may have signed veteran defensive tackle Grady Jarrett to boost their defensive front, but they’re clearly not done making moves. Their recent 30 visit reveals more plans are in motion.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Tennessee defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott recently visited Halas Hall. This visit marks one of his eight 30 visits, not including a local visit with the Titans. He’s also scheduled to meet with the Chiefs, Bills, 49ers, Bengals, Buccaneers, Browns, and Falcons.

Norman-Lott is projected as an early to mid-third-round pick, depending on the evaluator. Pro Football Focus ranks him 66th overall, while Sports Illustrated’s Daniel Flick places him 76th in his top 100. The NFL Mock Draft Database currently lists him at No. 83.

Though slightly undersized for the position at 6-foot-2 and 291 pounds, Norman-Lott could serve as a developmental player behind Jarrett. He didn’t run the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, but NFL Draft Scout recorded two identical pro day times of 5.17 seconds.

Norman-Lott began his college career at Arizona State, then transferred to Tennessee. There, he tallied 9.5 of his 13.5 total career sacks and 10 of his 17 tackles for loss during his final two seasons.

Chicago’s defensive line is taking shape with Jarrett, Gervon Dexter Jr., Andrew Billings, Jonathan Ford, and newly signed Chris Williams in the mix. Edge rusher Dayo Odeyingbo, who has experience playing inside, offers even more flexibility.

By showing interest in Norman-Lott, the Bears are signaling their intent to keep building strength and depth up front. As the draft nears, this visit might be more than just due diligence—it could be part of a bigger plan.
