TE Mark Andrews of the Baltimore Ravens releases a statement regarding his heroics on a plane.
TE Mark Andrews of the Baltimore Ravens issued a statement regarding his selfless deed aboard a plane.
The Baltimore Ravens’ standout tight end has had an intriguing offseason thus far. While traveling from Baltimore to Phoenix, Ravens tight end Mark Andrews was unintentionally given the opportunity to save a life when a woman on his plane developed low blood sugar. Andrews now properly acknowledges the people who moved quickly in that circumstance.
Unsurprisingly, Mark Andrews praised the doctors and flight attendants who attended to the passenger who passed out on board. Before paramedics arrived after the plane landed, a doctor and nurse were trying to treat her. What Andrews said was as follows:
The actual heroes on the plane are the doctor and nurse who also happened to be on board, along with the quick-thinking flight attendants. Thank goodness, they were able to give the victim the prompt help she required. -Mark Andrews
It is well known that Mark Andrews has Type 1 diabetes. He therefore always carries a kit to monitor his blood sugar levels. Andrews reportedly provided this item to the nurse and doctor trying to treat the collapsed woman on the plane.
The woman was reportedly stabilized by them before the paramedics came, suggesting that the kit was effective. Andrews was fortunate enough to be in the right location at the right moment. As befitting a true hero, Andrews gave due recognition to all parties concerned in his aforementioned statement.
