With veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston now on the roster alongside Tommy DeVito, are the New York Giants still considering adding another quarterback? The answer may come during the 2025 NFL Draft, which begins on April 24 and runs through April 26.
Despite their offseason moves, the Giants remain open to selecting a potential franchise QB. According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart is a player to watch. Hughes reports that head coach Brian Daboll is particularly high on Dart, valuing his toughness—a key trait Daboll looks for in quarterbacks. While Miami’s Cam Ward is also on the Giants’ radar, Dart appears to be a strong contender.
The Giants currently hold the No. 3 overall pick in the first round, but Dart is unlikely to be taken that high unless they trade down. Instead, New York could use their second-round pick (34th overall) as trade leverage to move back into the first round and secure Dart. However, they may face competition from other QB-needy teams, complicating their draft strategy.
Notably, the previous buzz linking the Giants to Shedeur Sanders has significantly faded since December. While they remain open to drafting a quarterback, their level of aggressiveness in pursuing Dart or another prospect remains to be seen.
As the draft approaches, the Giants’ plans will become clearer. Whether they stay put, trade up, or stand pat, their decision at quarterback could shape the franchise’s future. With Daboll reportedly favoring Dart, New York’s draft-night moves will be worth watching closely.
