Warriors defeat 76ers as Andrew Wiggins maintains his recent hot run
I really hope that none of you have sold your Andrew Wiggins shares. Two-Way Wiggs is making a comeback for the Golden State Warriors following an erratic and disorganized start to the season that made all Dub Nation trade machine gurus on the world furious with him.
Last night at Chase Center, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 119-107, with Wiggins leaving his mark all over the W. With just one turnover, he finished with 23 points on 8 of 10 shots (80%!) plus 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and a block. He resembled the player Dub Nation watched stomping all over the NBA Finals back in 2022 in every way.
However, don’t believe me; instead, watch the tape:
Niiice. For those who are skeptical that the impressive performance from last night was more of an exception than a sign of future greatness, let me to remind you that Big Wiggs has been having a lot of fun lately.
Wiggins appeared quite engaged during the double-overtime spectacle versus the Los Angeles Lakers, when the Dubs were defeated by two game-winning free throws from LeBron James. His 22 points came from an incredibly effective 8 of 12 field goal shooting, including three of four successful three-pointers. In addition, he pulled down five rebounds, three assists, a block, and two steals while demonstrating his defensive intensity against King James. James was held to just 2-of-6 field goal shooting and 0 free throws by him, which is about as good as it gets on a
In what will always be remembered as Harrison Barnes Revenge Night, the team suffered a heartbreaking defeat to the Sacramento Kings. In the game prior, he scored 17 points on a flawless 6-of-8 shooting from the field, making 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. For the record, Wiggins didn’t have anything to do with any of the baskets the Black Falcon scored against the Dubs because he only covered HB for little less than two minutes.
Should this pattern continue, the guy who once led the Warriors to an All-Star game might restore his standing to that of the player that Golden State thought he could be when they freed him from the brutality of Minnesota Timberwolves basketball.
Dub Hub: According to Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga should “carry” the Warriors now.
“Kuminga and Wiggins are feeding off each other, playing well,” said Coach Kerr.
