How the Warriors’ Trades Depend on Steph Curry
The NBA trade deadline is approaching, and it is evident that the Warriors need to change things up, but Steph Curry will reportedly decide the team’s fate.
The team is 12th in the West with a 19-24 record, and NBA expert Shams Charania has the most up-to-date information on who he believes the Dubs could trade.
“They’ve lost six out of eight games.” “We discussed it, and everyone is on board except Steph Curry,” Charania stated on FanDuel TV.
“So, realistically, Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski — the two men they’re high on — they want to maintain for the long term. They see them as part of their core going forward. They’ll take calls on Andrew Wiggins and Chris Paul.
“Could they get interest from a guy like Klay Thompson?” I believe they are fairly open talks for the Warriors. They need to be open-minded. This is a team that is five games under 500 in 12th place outside of the playoffs, and they also have a huge tax burden. So this is a squad that is definitely on the cusp of a huge shakeup; we’ll see whether there are any changes over the next 10 days.”
However, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne feels that any deals must go through their veteran superstar Curry first.
“They’re not going to make any moves to that core and break up that dynastic team unless [Curry’s] on board with that idea,” Shelburne stated on NBA Today on January 29th.
Steph is clearly growing dissatisfied with his team’s performance.
