Dallas Cowboys fans had high hopes last offseason with a revamped secondary. Training camp featured a significant addition:

former All-Pro and Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore, acquired for just a 5th-round pick. Gilmore was set to partner with Trevon Diggs, the NFL’s 2022 interceptions leader with 11 picks and the most interceptions since 2021, totaling 17.

However, disaster struck in Week 3 when Diggs suffered a torn ACL while attempting to deflect a pass during practice. This injury abruptly ended his season, and recovery has taken almost a full year.

Fast forward to today, Diggs has been removed from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list and is cleared to resume practice. Despite this positive development, the Cowboys are taking a cautious approach, gradually integrating him into team workouts. During practice, Diggs was observed focusing on individual drills while being closely monitored.

Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Passing Game Coordinator Al Harris, who has been working with Diggs since his 2020 draft selection, is especially thrilled about this progress. The team’s careful management of Diggs’ return reflects their hope for a strong comeback and a bolstered defense.
