Deebo Samuel is no longer listed as injured for the 49ers’ NFC Championship game against the Lions.
Deebo Samuel, wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, has been formally cleared to play in the NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions this Sunday.
Samuel has been removed from the 49ers’ injury report, making him available to play in their must-win game at home in Levi’s Stadium, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Samuel suffered a shoulder injury during their divisional playoff game against the Green Bay Packers. It was a day packed with health worries for the star wideout, who suffered a head injury and was tested for concussion symptoms early in the game. While he was able to recover, his night was cut short when he injured his shoulder in the second quarter.
There were many questions about Deebo Samuel’s availability moving forward, especially after 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided a cryptic update on his status postgame, stating that it is similar to the shoulder ailment he suffered in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns. The problem is that Samuel lost two games as a result of that injury, and while Shanahan says he’s not sure whether it’s the same, it’s enough to worry the San Francisco fans.
Fortunately, Samuel progressed positively over the week. He returned to practice on Thursday and looked excellent in Friday’s session.
Of course, there is also the question of Samuel’s health and his ability to take hits following his injury. For the time being, however, 49ers supporters will be pleased to see him return.
