Bold Move! NFL Insider Bets $23M on Broncos’ Pro Bowler

The Denver Broncos have made notable moves during the offseason, especially in free agency, but their success will ultimately depend on their performance in the 2025 season. One player drawing attention is tight end Evan Engram, who joined the team on a two-year, $23 million contract. A Pro Bowler in 2020, Engram is expected to take on a key role in the Broncos’ offense as the “Joker” — a versatile, mismatch-creating weapon.

According to an anonymous rival executive, Engram is poised for a standout year. Speaking with The Athletic’s Mike Sando on April 2, the executive expressed confidence in Engram’s potential, saying, “I’ll bet you Evan Engram catches at least 75 balls next year. He will have a big year because he can run and catch.” The executive also noted that head coach Sean Payton is likely to make Engram a central part of the offense, especially on crucial third-down plays.

At 30 years old, Engram’s 2024 season saw him record 47 receptions for 365 yards and one touchdown — a step back from his 2023 performance, where he notched 114 catches for 963 yards and four touchdowns. Known for his ability to line up in various positions on the field, Engram brings a level of versatility that the Broncos’ offense has lacked in recent years.

The Broncos’ tight end group last season — which included Adam Trautman, Lucas Krull, Nate Adkins, and Greg Dulcich (now with the New York Giants) — combined for just 51 receptions, 483 yards, and five touchdowns. Engram’s arrival offers a significant upgrade and gives Denver a dynamic option in the passing game.

Though the Broncos appear improved on paper, they must translate their offseason moves into success on the field. With expectations rising, much of the focus will be on whether Engram can return to his Pro Bowl form and emerge as a key contributor in Payton’s offensive scheme.
