Las Vegas Raiders General Manager John Spytek recently revealed his choice for the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Surprisingly, his decision seems to be heavily influenced by his eldest son, Jack, who is adamant about selecting Ashton Jeanty for the team. Jack’s strong conviction comes from his expertise in fantasy football, and he even took it upon himself to discuss the matter directly with Raiders owner Mark Davis.
Jeanty, a standout running back, most recently played for the Boise State Broncos, a team he joined in 2022. Prior to his college career, he caught the attention of scouts while playing high school football at Lone Star in Texas. In his latest season, Jeanty delivered an impressive performance, rushing 354 times for 2,601 yards and scoring 29 touchdowns.
Spytek humorously acknowledged his son’s unwavering stance on the draft pick, stating, “Jack has made it very clear that if we don’t draft Ashton Jeanty at number six, he’s leaving the family and aligning himself with whichever team does take him. He’s all about fantasy football and touchdowns. He even walked into our facility and told Mark Davis that if I don’t pick Jeanty, I’m not doing my job properly.”
The Raiders are eager to rebuild their squad after a disappointing previous season, where they finished last in the AFC West with a 4-13 record. Their final game of the season ended in a 34-20 loss against the Los Angeles Chargers. With hopes of turning things around, the team is looking to make impactful additions in the upcoming draft. Whether Spytek follows his son’s advice remains to be seen, but Jeanty’s potential could certainly be a valuable asset to the struggling franchise.
