Titans Deny Will Levis Trade Rumors, Say QB Will Compete for Starting Role
The Tennessee Titans have dismissed speculation that quarterback Will Levis could be traded, with team president Chad Brinker firmly denying the rumors. Brinker stated that the Titans have not engaged in any trade discussions regarding Levis, though his comments about the quarterback were measured rather than overly enthusiastic.
“That’s a false report,” Brinker said, according to Jim Wyatt of the team’s official website. “We haven’t reached out to anyone, and no one has contacted us about Will Levis. Nothing has changed since I was last asked about this a month ago.”
Brinker emphasized that Levis will have the opportunity to compete for the starting job next season, though he noted that this applies to every player on the roster. The rumors surrounding Levis have largely been speculative, fueled by the possibility that the Titans may select quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. If that happens, Levis could become expendable, though the team may still view him as valuable depth behind veteran backup Brandon Allen.
Levis was given the chance to secure the starting role in 2023 but struggled, throwing for 2,091 yards and 13 touchdowns with 12 interceptions in 12 games. His inconsistency frustrated the coaching staff, and the Titans appear to have concluded that he is not their long-term solution at quarterback. While he remains on the roster for now, his future with the team could depend on how the draft and offseason competition unfold.
