Mavs rested, ready to take on league-leading Celtics | Reuters

Luka Doncic, the star player of the Dallas Mavericks, delivered a parting shot and sent a strong message to former Kings GM Vlade Divac after the Mavericks’ 107-103 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Friday. Doncic played a crucial role in the win, nearly achieving a triple-double and helping the Mavericks secure the 6th position in the Western Conference standings.

Doncic’s jab at Divac stemmed from the 2018 NBA Draft when the Kings had the chance to pick him as the second overall selection but opted for Marvin Bagley instead. The Mavericks then selected Doncic as the third overall pick, and he has since become the face of their franchise. Doncic didn’t miss the opportunity to taunt Divac as he waved goodbye to him from the court-side seats in the final moments of the game, remarking, “He should’ve drafted me.”

Doncic, who is having an outstanding season and is a top contender in the MVP race, ensured that Divac was reminded of the missed opportunity to recruit a player of Doncic’s caliber. With the Mavericks now moving out of the play-in tournament position and securing the sixth seed in the Western Conference, their future looks promising, especially with Doncic’s stellar performance and the team’s recent string of victories.
