The Baltimore Ravens have secured the services of cornerback Ar’Darius Washington, their exclusive rights free agent, just before the commencement of the new league year at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday. This ensures Washington’s return for his fourth season with the Ravens.

Reported by The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, the Ravens’ decision to re-sign Washington is primarily procedural, as he is their sole exclusive rights free agent. Despite his limited playing time in the past, Washington showed improvement during last year’s training camp. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to a chest injury sustained in Week 2, after appearing in two games and starting one.

With the departure of safety Geno Stone and cornerback Ronald Darby in free agency, and the potential loss of Arthur Maulet, Washington could find himself playing a significant role in various positions within the secondary next season. He may particularly excel under the guidance of new defensive coordinator Zach Orr.

Washington’s contributions on the field were evident last season before his injury, where he showcased his versatility with two passes defended, one sack, 11 total tackles (six solo), one tackle for loss, and two quarterback hits in just two games, including one start.
