Justice Haynes and Jam Miller, prominent figures in Alabama’s versatile running back roster, are ready to seize their opportunity. With a fresh start ahead, they aim to form a formidable duo for Alabama. However, the emergence of Richard Young and the incoming freshmen should not be overlooked.

During the initial days of spring practice, Alabama’s offensive coordinator, Nick Sheridan, posed a challenging question to the running backs: “How good do you really want to be?” Justice Haynes reflected on this message, appreciating the group’s collective challenge.

Sheridan holds high expectations for the running backs, describing them as hardworking, talented, and physically imposing. He emphasizes their capacity to excel in various aspects of the game, be it running, receiving, or pass protection. The challenge lies in proving their capabilities on the field.

While the running back unit possesses talent, experience is lacking, particularly with the departure of last season’s top rushers, Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams. Jam Miller and Justice Haynes are positioned as potential successors, having shown glimpses of their abilities in previous seasons.

Miller, once highly regarded by the previous coaching staff, now has the opportunity to showcase his development. Haynes, despite experiencing a gradual start last season, demonstrated his potential in crucial moments, notably during the Rose Bowl.

Haynes remains focused on maintaining consistency, emphasizing the importance of steady performance. Both he and Miller are optimistic about their roles in the new offensive system under Sheridan and head coach Kalen DeBoer, aiming to create a dynamic rushing attack.

Gillespie, the running backs coach, values the group’s versatility, highlighting the unique strengths each member brings. Freshman Daniel Hill shows promise with his size and prior experience, albeit still acclimatizing to the demands of college football.

Looking ahead, four-star recruit Kevin Riley is expected to bolster the running back corps upon enrollment. Despite the anticipation surrounding newcomers, Gillespie emphasizes not to overlook Richard Young, who has shown steady improvement and understanding of the offense.

In summary, Alabama’s running back group, led by Haynes and Miller, is poised to make an impact with their collective talent and determination, supported by emerging talents like Young and Hill.
