Jay Wright, the former head coach of the Villanova Wildcats, acknowledges the appeal of the Ohio State men’s basketball coaching position but asserts that he has no interest in it or any other head coaching role. Despite recognizing Ohio State’s excellent athletic department, rich tradition, and fertile recruiting ground, Wright, who will be part of the CBS broadcast for the game between Michigan State and Ohio State, confirms that he is “definitely done coaching.”

Ross Bjork, the newly appointed athletic director, has stated that Ohio State is in the early stages of the coaching search, denying any focus on a specific candidate. Wright, who led Villanova to two national championships, is a name frequently mentioned by Ohio State fans as a potential replacement for Chris Holtmann.

Wright believes that Ohio State has a talented team poised for success, regardless of the coaching change. While acknowledging the challenges faced by Holtmann, Wright expresses confidence in the program’s future success. The university has reportedly engaged in early discussions with potential candidates such as Dusty May from Florida Atlantic and former Buckeyes Chris Jent and Scoonie Penn.
