Cam Ward transfers to Miami after his WSU tenure; had declared for the 2024 NFL draft.

NFL fans will have to wait another year before quarterback Cam Ward on the field.

The former Washington State signal caller revealed on X, now known as Twitter, that he will be transferring to the University of Miami.

Ward first entered the transfer portal in December, but declared for the 2024 NFL Draft on New Year’s Day. He has recently reversed that decision and will compete with Albany transfer Reese Poffenbarger for the Hurricanes’ starting quarterback spot.

Ward began his collegiate career at FCS Incarnate Word in 2020, when he received the Jerry Rice Award as the most outstanding FCS freshman player. In his two seasons with the program, he threw for nearly 7,000 yards with 71 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Instead, he hopes to help the Hurricanes move ahead after a 7-6 season that included a loss to Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl.
