Ryan Grubb departs from DeBoer and Alabama in pursuit of a chance with the Seattle Seahawks and a “Unicorn Event”.Adam Schein Rips Seattle Seahawks' Sad, Pathetic Quarterback Competition

In Seattle, Washington, the enduring partnership between Ryan Grubb and Kalen DeBoer, which originated during their NAIA days at the University of Sioux Falls, has come to an end. Despite Grubb’s initial commitment to join DeBoer as the offensive coordinator at the University of Alabama, a significant opportunity arose for him to take on the role of offensive coordinator for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks. Grubb, who had previously led a successful offense at the University of Washington, was officially introduced on Thursday, marking the conclusion of his brief tenure with DeBoer at Alabama.

While Grubb had initially planned to join DeBoer at Alabama, his connection with Seattle’s new head coach, Mike MacDonald, established during the NFL Draft Combine a year ago when MacDonald was the defensive coordinator at Baltimore, played a pivotal role in his decision. Despite the less-than-ideal timing, Grubb, a former assistant at USF, couldn’t resist the opportunity to make the move to the NFL.

The focus now shifts to identifying DeBoer’s new offensive coordinator at Alabama. Speculation primarily centers around the potential promotion of current assistant Nick Sheridan. However, there has also been some discussion about the possibility of Kurtiss Riggs, a former teammate of DeBoer at USF and the ex-coach of the Sioux Falls Storm, as a potential unconventional choice for the position.
