Latest News: ER RUMOURS David Hancko negotiations have been confirmed by Liverpool.
David Hancko, a defender for Feyenoord, has had discussions with Liverpool, his agency has revealed. It’s possible that the Reds are looking for a center back.
It seems that David Hancko, a center defender from Slovenia, is a target for Liverpool. At least, that’s what his representative says, claiming to have had discussions with the Reds, PSG, and other teams.
This week, the player was speculatively connected to both PSG and Liverpool, which led TNCZ to speak with Branislav Jasurek regarding the interest. Jasurek is FairSport International’s representative for Hancko.
He said, “As an agency, we are in contact with others who are looking into David’s position in addition to these two teams.
Although not many would have considered Hancko, this actually makes a lot of sense for Liverpool. In 2024, the Reds will most likely want to acquire a center-back due to Joel Matip’s terrible injury and the fact that his contract is up this year.
The Slovenian, who is 26 years old and older than Liverpool usually targets, wouldn’t impede Jarell Quansah’s development. Additionally, he is a left-sided center defender, which will be useful in the aftermath of Virgil van Dijk.
But above all, Hancko’s data is excellent. He’s among the best on-ball defenders outside of Europe’s top five leagues, if not the best overall, according to Fbref.
Even without that added factor, his 88% pass completion percentage is impressive, especially considering that he plays more progressive passes than almost any other defender outside of the top five. Additionally, he creates more than two shots every ninety minutes, which is a remarkable rate for a center defender.
Therefore, Hancko checks a lot of the appropriate boxes, and Liverpool supporters should definitely keep an eye on him in 2024.
