Although Delap did not score in Ipswich’s 4-1 loss to Tottenham, the forward had a strong afternoon and caused the visiting defense a lot of trouble.
Enzo Maresca is a huge admirer of the former Manchester City young player, who scored 27 goals in 22 games during a productive stint under the Italian.
In recent months, Delap has drawn interest from a number of elite Premier League teams, but none more than Chelsea. According to TBR Football, the Blues had representatives at Portman Road to inquire about the 22-year-old’s condition.
Although Chelsea, as well as teams like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United, are closely monitoring Liam Delap’s condition, sources have informed TBR Football main correspondent Graeme Bailey that the continent is very interested.
According to TBR Football sources, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig were also at Portman Road to watch him.
Delap is of special interest to Leipzig, who are preparing to lose at least one forward this summer as Benjamin Sesko appears more and more likely to leave to England.
TBR Football can now disclose that Ipswich is seeking almost £40 million, while Man City has a 20% sell-on clause on the striker.
Delap’s admirer Gary Lineker has pushed Arsenal to pursue him over Alexander Isak, who may fetch up to £150 million.
The 22-year-old is still making an impression in his first top-flight season as a consistent starter, with ten Premier League goals so far this season.
Delap was part of Maresca’s Man City under-23 team which won the Premier League 2 and proved to be one of the best youth teams in the country.
The Ipswich forward played alongside the likes of Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia and James McAtee during his spell in the City academy.
Maresca also helped him to score a rather impressive amount of goals as he netted 27 times in 22 appearances whilst also notching six assists.
