Corey Lajoie, in his first public comments since Spire Motorsports announced their split after the NASCAR season, reflected on his journey with the team on his Stacking Pennies podcast. Lajoie, a third-generation stock car driver, expressed a mix of emotions about the transition. Despite the disappointment, he remains optimistic and grateful. “Everywhere that I’ve been has always been one-year deals,” Lajoie noted, recognizing that the uncertainty of his current situation is not new to him.

Lajoie praised Spire Motorsports’ co-owners Jeff Dickerson and T.J. Puchyr, acknowledging their belief in him from the start. Since joining Spire in 2020, Lajoie has been integral to the team’s growth, from their initial setup to their recent expansion. His tenure included notable achievements, with four top-5s and six top-10s in 129 Cup starts.

However, this year has been challenging. Lajoie has struggled, leading the league in crashes and performing below expectations compared to rookie Carson Hocevar. He admits to making mistakes behind the wheel that affected the team’s performance. Despite this, Lajoie remains focused on moving forward and is eager for new opportunities.
