Carter shares this distinction with Missouri’s Jay Higgins. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has praised Carter as one of the best players he’s coached in 20 years. Over his college career, Carter has accumulated impressive stats: 170 tackles, 21 for a loss, nine sacks, 15 pass break-ups, three interceptions, and more.
Carter’s high rating isn’t surprising, given his accolades, including All-ACC selection and 2022 All-American honors. He was highly anticipated upon arrival, being a five-star recruit from North Gwinnett High School. Clemson’s defense received a No. 5 overall ranking, while the team is ranked No. 6 with a rating of 90.
The Tigers’ season opens on Aug. 31 against Georgia in Atlanta, followed by home games against Appalachian State, NC State, and Stanford.
