Fans of the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team will have a harder time catching a glimpse of their new head coach, Mark Pope.

Pope and his wife, Lee Anne, along with their four daughters, have purchased a house in the exclusive gated community of The Grange Lane on scenic Paris Pike. The property, previously owned by former Lexington TV journalist and Miss Kentucky, Melanie Glasscock Simpson Conley, boasts 11.61 acres. The Fayette County Property Valuation Administrator’s database states the house, built in 2002, includes six bedrooms, six bathrooms, three half baths, a pool, and a three-car garage. Assessed at $2,611,700 in 2024, the Popes bought the home for $4.75 million, with the transaction recorded on July 3.

The Grange is an exclusive subdivision next to Lexington Country Club along Paris Pike, lined with horse farms and near Keeneland’s Thoroughbred Training Center. Pope’s UK contract includes a country club membership but does not specify which club. The contract states, “The University agrees to provide Coach a membership at a mutually agreed upon country club. The University will continue to pay the monthly dues and any assessments as long as the Agreement is in effect.” Unlike former UK coach John Calipari’s recently sold Richmond Road home, Pope’s new residence is well secluded.
