Just In: Auburn Tiger announces new hired offensive coordinator Kamryn Pettway, told ESPN…

Charles Henderson High head football coach Quinn Hambrite has hired former Auburn football star Kamryn Pettway as the new offensive coordinator, following DeAndre Austin’s departure to become the head coach at Tuskegee’s Booker T. Washington. Hambrite, who coached Pettway during his senior year of high school at Prattville, found a familiar face to fill the role.

Pettway’s football credentials are impressive. He earned first-team All-SEC honors as a running back at Auburn, where he showcased his talent in 2016 under head coach Gus Malzahn. During that standout season, Pettway rushed for 1,224 yards on 209 carries, averaging 5.86 yards per attempt, and scored seven touchdowns. His performance included back-to-back 150-yard rushing games, a feat not achieved by an Auburn player since the legendary Bo Jackson.

Hambrite expressed confidence in Pettway’s abilities, noting their longstanding relationship and Pettway’s immediate interest in the position following Austin’s departure. “It was a no-brainer,” Hambrite said. “He only had to do a good job at the interview.” Pettway’s hiring brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to Charles Henderson’s offense, promising an exciting future for the team’s offensive strategy.
