**Auburn Tigers News: Jake Thornton on High School Recruiting, TE Expected to Recommit**

In today’s Auburn Tigers News, offensive line coach Jake Thornton discusses the significance of high school recruiting, while a former tight end commit is anticipated to return to Auburn football.

Head coach Hugh Freeze inherited a significant challenge with Auburn’s offensive line. Struggling to recruit quality linemen for years, the Tigers had a lot of work ahead. Thornton and Freeze utilized the transfer portal in their first year to patch up the offensive line but aimed to build long-term strength through high school recruiting.

Thornton expressed his commitment to this strategy: “That’s why I came to Auburn because I believe in coach Freeze. We want to build this thing off high school players… to help high school players develop and achieve their goals.” Recruiting high school players aligns with Auburn’s offensive and cultural vision.

With key returners like Connor Lew and Jeremiah Wright, alongside new additions, Auburn’s offensive line is set for improvement in the 2024 season.

In other news, 3-star tight end Hollis Davidson, who decommitted in May after initially committing in February, is expected to rejoin Auburn. Despite a strong push from Florida State, predictions indicate Davidson will choose Auburn on July 4, joining fellow tight end commit Ryan Ghea in the 2025 class.
