Michigan basketball fans will have the opportunity to see a former Wolverines star in action this season. Tim Hardaway Jr., previously with the Dallas Mavericks, has been traded to the Detroit Pistons.

The trade was completed a couple of days ago. The Mavericks recently participated in the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Boston Celtics in five games. Hardaway Jr. saw limited playtime in the first three games, all losses for the Mavericks.

However, in Game 4, Hardaway was activated and made a significant impact by hitting five 3-pointers, leading to Dallas’s only win in the Finals. According to ESPN, the Mavericks traded Hardaway and three second-round picks to the Pistons in exchange for Quentin Grimes. Hardaway is set to earn $16.2 million next season, the final year of his four-year, $75 million contract.

Hardaway, a former Michigan standout, was part of the 2012 team that shared the Big Ten regular-season championship and the 2013 team that reached the Final Four and the national championship game under coach John Beilein.

Hardaway served as the sixth man for the Mavericks last season, averaging 14.4 points per game. Over his 12-season NBA career, he has made 345 career starts and has averaged double figures in scoring in 11 of those seasons. He holds a career average of 14 points per game and has made 1,676 3-point field goals.
