West Virginia University (WVU) basketball fans will see two familiar faces at the WVU Coliseum during the 2024-25 season. The Big 12 conference schedule matrix, released this week, shows that Utah and Oklahoma State will both visit Morgantown. Notably, each team has a connection to the 2023-2024 WVU basketball program—a former coach and a former player.
Utah has added Josh Eilert to their coaching staff as an assistant. Eilert, who was WVU’s interim head coach last season after Bob Huggins’ departure, was a key member of Huggins’ staff for over a decade. His extensive experience in the Big 12 will be invaluable to Utah as they enter their first season in the conference.
Oklahoma State, on the other hand, has secured a commitment from former WVU forward Pat Suemnick. Suemnick played multiple seasons with WVU and was instrumental in their upset of then-ranked No. 3 Kansas last year. He brings a deep understanding of the Big 12’s competitive level and style of play, which will be crucial for Oklahoma State.
Both Eilert and Suemnick’s familiarity with the WVU Coliseum’s challenging atmosphere will help their new teams prepare for the intense environment they will face there.
