They are leaving for good, Atlanta Falcons confirm the departure of two excellent starter and confirm the signing of top247 star…..

The Falcons’ offense will look much different in 2024 with Kirk Cousins under center and Darnell Mooney in place as a starting receiver. Mooney will be joined on the perimeter by Drake London, but Atlanta’s starting slot role is up for grabs this offseason.

Part of the team’s transition at quarterback included the decision to trade away Desmond Ridder to the Cardinals. In return, the Falcons acquired receiver Rondale Moore, hoping a change of scenery will benefit both players. Moore, 24, had difficulty establishing himself in Arizona’s passing game over the past three seasons. Atlanta is optimistic that pairing him with Cousins and implementing a new offensive system will lead to a breakout season for Moore, as noted by Josh Kendall of The Athletic.

The Falcons’ new offensive coordinator, Zac Robinson, brings experience from Sean McVay’s Rams system, which emphasizes yards-after-catch production—an area where Moore could excel. With one year left on his rookie contract, Moore’s 2024 performance will be crucial in determining his market value.

Competing for the starting slot position alongside Moore are sixth-round rookie Casey Washington and veteran Ray-Ray McCloud. McCloud, who signed a two-year deal in March, could also handle return duties. Known for his special teams contributions, McCloud impressed during spring practices as a receiver, according to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi.

McCloud participated with the starting offense during OTAs and minicamp, providing him an opportunity to secure a complementary pass-catching role. His most productive offensive season was in 2021 with 277 yards on 39 catches. He has proven to be an effective return man, achieving over 1,000 all-purpose yards for three consecutive seasons from 2020-22. McCloud’s contract has no guaranteed salary for 2025, making this season crucial for his financial future.

After finishing 26th in the NFL in scoring and 22nd in passing yards last season, the Falcons aim to improve in both areas in 2024. The arrival of Cousins raises expectations for all the team’s receivers, making the competition for the starting slot role a storyline to follow throughout the summer.
