New Michigan Wolverines head basketball coach Dusty May faces the significant challenge of rebuilding the team after several years under the leadership of Juwan Howard, one of the program’s standout players. Howard, a member of the Fab Five, began his Michigan coaching career with two impressive postseason runs, but the team’s performance declined thereafter.

May hopes his first-year squad can capture some of the vigor brought by Howard’s predecessor, John Beilein, a two-time NCAA Tournament finalist. Media outlets have been sharing posts of the legendary coach visiting the Wolverines’ summer practice to offer on-court insights.

It’s uncertain if Beilein, who led the Wolverines to nine NCAA tournament appearances and two championship games, will be a regular presence in the locker room. However, his attendance at practice is a significant endorsement for the new head coach.
