The Pittsburgh Steelers made moves to bolster their roster, signing wide receiver Jacob Copeland and claiming defensive tackle Willington Previlon off waivers, according to Steelers.com writer Teresa Varley. Aaron Williams of KPRC 2 reported that Previlon was waived by Atlanta before being picked up by Pittsburgh.

Jacob Copeland, who went undrafted last year, had a five-year college career at Florida and Maryland. As a top-100 national recruit, he joined the Florida Gators but spent his initial years behind stars like Kadarius Toney and Kyle Pitts. In his redshirt sophomore year, he emerged as a deep threat, averaging 18.9 yards per reception with 435 yards and three touchdowns on 23 catches.

Chosen One: The Jacob Copeland story

In 2021, with Toney, Pitts, and quarterback Kyle Trask gone, Copeland became a leading receiver, tying for the team lead in receptions (41) and receiving touchdowns (4), and leading in receiving yards (642). He transferred to Maryland for his redshirt senior season, where he recorded 376 yards, 26 catches, and two touchdowns, leading the team with 14.5 yards per reception.

Copeland initially signed with the Titans as an undrafted free agent and had brief stints with the Vikings, Steelers, and Chiefs. He now returns to Pittsburgh for another opportunity.

Willington Previlon, undrafted in 2020, played disruptively at Rutgers, with three sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss in his final two seasons. He has since moved between several NFL teams, including the Packers, Buccaneers, Cowboys, and Falcons, before being claimed by the Steelers.
