Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington, once a prominent figure in their receiving corps, is gearing up for a potential NFL comeback this season. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the 28-year-old Washington has attracted interest from multiple teams and may soon participate in tryouts.

Drafted in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Steelers (No. 60 overall), Washington quickly made an impact, leading the team with 735 receiving yards in the 2019 season. After leaving the Steelers in free agency following the 2021 campaign to join the Dallas Cowboys, Washington’s career trajectory was interrupted by a Jones fracture in his right foot, limiting his playtime in 2022. Subsequently, he spent time on several NFL practice squads in 2023—including those of the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, and Indianapolis Colts—but did not see any game action.

Known for his athleticism and strong performances during his earlier years, Washington, a former standout at Oklahoma State, appears poised for a comeback bid. As he looks to revitalize his NFL career, teams are keeping a close watch on Washington’s progress, eager to see if he can reclaim his earlier form and contribute once again at the professional level.
