The accusations arose from an incident in September 2023, leading to Shannon’s arrest. He was accused of inappropriate touching, allegations vigorously contested by his legal team. Shannon testified in court denying any physical contact with the woman involved.

Following his initial suspension, which was later overturned by a federal court, Shannon returned to play for Illinois after missing six games. He played a pivotal role as Illinois advanced to the Elite Eight and secured the Big Ten Tournament championship during his final NCAA season.

Looking ahead, Shannon is expected to be drafted in the upcoming NBA Draft scheduled later this month in New York.
