Regretfully, Maryland football’s son of a Baltimore Ravens coach has taken a leave of absence.

This weekend, Maryland football will welcome a sizable delegation of official guests, which typically indicates that commitments will arrive the following week. However, there was no wait this time.

Athlete JT Taggart of Baltimore made his decision to commit to the Terps public on X on Saturday. At Calvert Hall in Towson, Taggart is a 6-7, 225-pound athlete. His father, Willie Taggart, is the running backs coach for the Baltimore Ravens and a former head coach at Florida State and Oregon.

The younger Taggart hasn’t been rated yet, but is listed in the Composite rankings as the No. 32 player in Maryland and the No. 68 chose Maryland over a solid group of offers including WVU, Louisville, Pitt and Purdue. He began his high school career in Florida while his father was FAU’s head coach, but moved to the area when the Ravens hired the elder Taggart last year. As a junior at Calvert Hall, the school that produced Maryland basketball legend Juan Dixon, he posted 21 catches for 304 yards and four touchdowns

He is the ninth member in the 2025 recruiting class for Maryland football.
