breaking: the Maryland football team delivered a touchdown, and the Baltimore Ravens coach finally brought the Steelers into the trade

This weekend, Maryland football will welcome a sizable delegation of official guests, which typically indicates that commitments will arrive the following week. However, there was no wait this time.

Athlete JT Taggart of Baltimore made his decision to commit to the Terps public on X on Saturday. At Calvert Hall in Towson, Taggart is a 6-5, 210-pound athlete. His father, Willie Taggart, is the running backs coach for the Baltimore Ravens and a former head coach at Florida State and Oregon.

Although the younger Taggart isn’t rated just yet, he is ranked as the 32nd best player in Maryland according to the Composite rankings, and he picked Maryland over a strong field of offers that included WVU, Louisville, Pitt, and Purdue. When his father was the head coach of FAU, he started his high school career in Florida. However, after the elder Taggart was hired by the Ravens last year, he relocated to the area. At Calvert Hall, the same school that turned the legendary Maryland basketball player Juan Dixon, he recorded 21 receptions for 304 yards and four touchdowns in his junior year.

He is the ninth member in the 2025 recruiting class for Maryland football.

Given his extensive network in the coaching industry, it is not surprising that many well-known coaches have sent their boys to Mike Locksley. Prior to Tomlin’s transfer to Boston College, he also served as coach to Dino Tomlin, the son of Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin.

Willie Taggart Jr., the brother of JT Taggart, is a player for Western Kentucky.
