In the lead-up to the highly anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy later this year, India ‘A’ will play two First-Class matches against Australia ‘A’, the Cricket Association of India said on Tuesday.
According to Cricket Australia, the two matches will take place at the MCG from November 7 to 10, and the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay from October 31 to November 3.
The warm-up matches will provide fringe players on both teams a chance to make a case for a spot in the Test match.
According to Peter Roach, CA Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling, “holding those A matches at the upgraded Great Barrier Reef Arena and the MCG give these ‘A’ matches significant status and will provide great opportunities to players from both sides to put up their hand for selection.”
Beginning on November 17, the Indian team will participate in a three-day intrasquad game at the WACA Ground. India had faced Australia A in practice matches during their 2020–21 Down Under tour.
