Bleacher Report’s Norb Caoili floated the idea of a trade with the San Francisco 49ers involving star receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who has yet to secure a long-term contract. However, this proposal faced strong opposition from Seahawks fans during a May 21, 2024 live stream.

“This trade isn’t likely to happen. I wanted to see if you had the choice between DK Metcalf and Brandon Aiyuk, straight up, who would you choose? Who is the better receiver?” Caoili explained during the stream.

#### Comparing DK Metcalf and Brandon Aiyuk

Aiyuk’s stats have been slightly better, with 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2023. Metcalf recorded 66 receptions for 1,114 yards and 8 touchdowns, marking his second consecutive season with over 1,000 receiving yards.

Metcalf, however, brings a more physical presence at 6-foot-3 and 228 pounds and is under contract with the Seahawks for two more seasons with a three-year, $72 million deal and a $24.5 million cap hit for 2024.

#### 49ers Rumors: Brandon Aiyuk’s Contract Situation
Aiyuk has expressed dissatisfaction via social media and completed his four-year, $12.5 million rookie contract. San Francisco picked up his fifth-year option for $14.1 million in 2024, but Aiyuk could become a free agent in 2025. Spotrac estimates his market value at four years and $106 million.

Despite social media signals of displeasure, progress is being made. According to ESPN’s Nick Wagoner, Aiyuk has shown some positive signs, like approving the draft pick of his former Arizona State teammate, indicating less tension than it appears online.
