FSU football: An ESPN employee makes a fruitless attempt to verify AD at FSU Michael Alford
Even after more than five months, FSU football fans and podcasts are still talking about the team’s rejection. In a recent podcast, Michael Alford, the athletic director at FSU, revealed something he had not previously disclosed. Alford never disclosed his suspicion that FSU might not qualify for the College Football Playoffs. But he talked about the point at which the prospect started to materialize and the one at which he was very certain it wouldn’t happen for the Noles.
The only issue with that, Rod, is that there’s copious amounts of proof indicating ESPN was aware of certain things prior to the snub. Was it a coincidence that when the College Football Rankings were announced, ESPN already knew which helmets to use as the background image? Tell you something. What if ESPN and all parties involved made available every document that was used to determine which teams to choose and how the TV show was informed of the decision? After all, those items were requested by the Florida Attorney General months ago, and they have still not been provided. Rod, why, I wonder? What would be accessible in the event that occurred? It should be simple to demonstrate that ESPN did not engage in any collusion to place FSU outside of the College Football Playoff and place another SEC team in the tournament. Rod, there’s a lot of smoke there, which is one of the reasons FSU and the ACC are opting to settle out of court rather than proceeding with the discovery process. ESPN is the perfect person to think things through.
