The Washington Commanders were able to start over and pick up the pieces to put this legendary club back on track as a force to be reckoned with in the NFC after Daniel Snyder finally sold the team before last season.
Washington has been aggressive in its attempts to right the ship under new owner Josh Harris and his ownership group, which includes Los Angeles Lakers great Magic Johnson, even if this could be a drawn-out process for the Commanders.
The Commanders started to purge after a dismal 2023 campaign in which they won only four games and placed last in the NFC East division standings. Head coach Ron Rivera was fired, and Dan Quinn—formerly of the division foe Dallas Cowboys—was hired.
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, in addition to Quinn taking over as head coach of Washington, the organization has been making front office changes to try and get back on track as soon as possible. The most recent addition is former Detroit Lions executive Brandon Sosna.
Washington could soon be a team to watch in the NFC, especially after selecting Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels out of LSU as a quarterback. This is provided Commanders brass keeps up this strategy of improving every aspect of the squad.
With Daniels as their foundation going forward, the Commanders have direction and a sense of purpose that should help lead the club into a bright future.
