Michigan transfer Terrance Williams II has opted to remain within the Big Ten conference for his senior season. Williams, who spent the past four years at Michigan, including two as a starter, recently announced his decision to join USC.

Confirming the move via MLive, Williams revealed that he had weighed his options, including entering the NBA draft, before ultimately choosing to transfer to USC.

With USC set to join the Big Ten next season and Eric Musselman taking the reins as head coach, Williams sees an opportunity for personal and athletic growth. He cited Musselman’s track record in developing players with similar attributes to his own and his alignment with the coach’s playing style as key factors in his decision.

Recruited to Michigan by Juwan Howard, Williams found himself in a transitional period following Howard’s dismissal and the subsequent arrival of Dusty May as head coach. Despite this upheaval, Williams put up solid numbers last season, averaging 12.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Having played 115 games for Michigan, Williams has an extra season of eligibility due to the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver, offering him the chance to make an impact in a new environment. While he’ll be navigating unfamiliar territory, Williams will also revisit familiar arenas as USC’s schedule unfolds in the Big Ten.
