Report: Tyreek Hill reveals he was called out by Mike McDaniel following his performance against Chiefs - The Phinsider

Tyreek Hill has disclosed that Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confronted him following the team’s wild-card playoff defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this year. Despite Hill’s performance with five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown in Miami’s 26-7 loss, McDaniel expressed dissatisfaction, especially after Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed physically engaged with Hill during a play.

Reflecting on McDaniel’s reaction, Hill shared during the ‘Million Dollaz Worth of Game’ podcast on Tuesday that the coach rebuked him for not meeting expectations, questioning the purpose of the significant investment in him as a player.

Now, nearly three months after the Dolphins’ playoff exit, Hill has pledged to enhance his game during the offseason, driven by McDaniel’s critique. He views such challenges as opportunities for growth and accountability, aiming to prevent similar incidents in the future. Hill emphasized the importance of coaches holding players accountable for their performance, believing it contributes to the team’s overall improvement.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins are exploring options to bolster their receiving corps, with reports suggesting interest in Odell Beckham Jr., who visited the team’s facilities recently. However, Beckham Jr. has yet to finalize a contract with Miami despite the mutual interest.

Outside of football, Hill is dealing with legal issues, including a lawsuit involving a social media influencer alleging that Hill caused her injury during a playful football game at his Miami residence.
