Michigan basketball has reached out to former top-25 recruit Sean Stewart, a standout athlete transferring from Duke.
Daniel Plocher reports that Dusty May and the Michigan Wolverines recently secured commitments from four players, both from the transfer portal and high school prospects, for the upcoming season. Despite these additions, there are still vacancies on the roster, particularly in the frontcourt.
Over the weekend, the Wolverines contacted Sean Stewart, a 6-foot-9 freshman who showcased his athleticism at Duke. Stewart, who averaged 2.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game, impressed with his vertical leap, surpassing Zion Williamson’s record at Duke with a standing vertical of 36 inches.
Stewart, a former McDonald’s All-American and a standout at Montverde Academy, was highly sought after in high school, with Michigan among his top choices along with Ohio State and Georgetown. Since entering the transfer portal, Stewart has received interest from multiple programs, including those previously mentioned.
Michigan’s pursuit of Stewart is part of their broader efforts to strengthen the frontcourt, with ongoing discussions also involving other big men like Vlad Goldin from FAU and Justin Abson, the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year. The Wolverines’ consistent engagement with these players indicates their determination to bolster their team for the upcoming seasons.
