Providence Women’s Basketball Wraps Up Season With 54-41 Defeat Against Colgate in WNIT Second Round
Brynn Farrell led the Friars with nine points; Marta Morales Romero contributed eight points and seven rebounds.
Providence, R.I. – The Providence College women’s basketball team (13-21) finished their season with a 54-41 loss to Colgate in the WNIT Second Round on March 25 in Providence, R.I. The Raiders (20-13) move on to the Round of 16 and will meet Vermont.

1ST QUARTER:
• Grace Efosa opened the scoring off the tip, followed by Colgate’s six consecutive points (6-2).
• Brynn Farrell ended a three-minute scoring drought with a three-pointer, giving the Friars a 9-6 lead (1:34).
• Colgate closed the quarter with four unanswered points to take a 10-9 lead at the break.

2ND QUARTER:
• Providence briefly led 17-16 with 3:59 left after baskets from Emily Archibald and Sophi Hall.
• Colgate responded with five straight points from Taylor Golembiewski, taking a 21-17 lead (2:51).
• The Friars tied the game at 21-21 with four consecutive points from Ugne Sirtautaite.
• Colgate led 24-21 at halftime, shooting similarly from the field but gaining an edge from free throws.

3RD QUARTER:
• Colgate started the third quarter with a 4-0 run, leading 28-21 (7:37).
• Marta Morales Romero’s three-pointer cut the deficit to 28-24 (6:23).
• A 7-2 run brought Providence within two (30-28) at 4:56.
• Colgate extended their lead to 34-28 as Providence struggled to score.
• Brynn Farrell’s free throws at 2:14 ended the Friars’ scoring drought (34-30).
• Providence was scoreless from the field for over six minutes, trailing 38-30 after three quarters.

4TH QUARTER:
• Morales Romero’s three-pointer early in the fourth cut the lead to 38-33 (9:53).
• Despite closing the gap to five, Providence couldn’t overcome Colgate’s 8-0 run.
• Colgate’s 14-4 run extended their lead to 54-39, securing the victory.

NOTES:
• Brynn Farrell led with nine points.
• Marta Morales Romero contributed eight points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
• Grace Efosa and Morales Romero tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven each.
• Emily Archibald had a career-high five steals along with four points, five rebounds, and three assists.
• Providence played without Olivia Olsen, a key player averaging 13.7 points and 8.5 rebounds, due to injury.
• Providence shot 28.6% from the field compared to Colgate’s 38.9%.
