On Tuesday, Kim Caldwell made a winning impression during her first press conference as the new Lady Vols basketball coach.

She honored the illustrious coach Pat Summitt and her legacy by donning a Summitt Blue jacket. Caldwell also made some jokes, one of which was about her increased ability to attract students to Tennessee.

She recently completed her first season as a Division I coach at Marshall, and the Lady Vols are recruiting in a whole new realm. Six days after Kellie Harper was fired by Tennessee, Caldwell was hired on Sunday.

After playing for Division II Glenville State, Caldwell started her career as a head coach there. 2011 saw her graduate.

As a coach at Glenville State, Caldwell led her team to two Final Fours and a Division II national championship, although she was not as successful as she was as a player.

“There is not a single individual who has completed this program that I could even come close to defeating one-on-one, which is why I am both honored and humbled to be here. It’s an amazing program,” Caldwell remarked. “Pat Summitt changed the game of basketball, and wouldn’t she love to see where the game is now.”
