Miami Dolphins 2021 Draft: What a trade down to nine might look like

The Miami Dolphins, led by GM Chris Grier, are considering trading down in the upcoming NFL draft due to their lack of picks in the third and fourth rounds. Grier mentioned the possibility of involving their second-round pick rather than their first-round selection, emphasizing the importance of not missing out on a valuable player. While discussions with other teams have taken place, Grier highlighted that finalizing trades often occurs during the draft itself.

Despite not having first-round grades for 21 players, Grier remains optimistic about landing impact players at No. 21. He also mentioned the excitement within the team, particularly head coach Mike McDaniel, about having a first-round pick after a gap since 2022.

Grier’s past draft moves, including trading up for standout players like Xavien Howard, demonstrate his willingness to make strategic moves in the draft, including potential trade-down scenarios to bolster the team’s future prospects.
