Transfer Portal Guard Puts Michigan In Top Five

A guard in the transfer portal has included Michigan in his top five choices, signaling attention to the opportunities offered by the Wolverines in Ann Arbor amidst a thin basketball roster.

Since Dusty May took the helm at Michigan over three weeks ago, there haven’t been many changes to the roster aside from Will Tschetter and George Washington III opting to stay. However, there’s movement on the horizon as key prospects like Vlad Goldin, Danny Wolf, and Trey Townsend have been visiting campus, exploring possibilities with the Wolverines.

One notable prospect is Kolby King, a former Tulane guard who entered the transfer portal in late March. Standing at 6-2 and weighing 190 pounds, King has narrowed down his options to five schools, with Michigan being one of them. The Wolverines will compete with South Carolina, Utah, Dayton, and Butler for King’s commitment.

King’s shooting prowess, with a 37.9 percent success rate from beyond the arc last season, aligns well with May’s offensive strategy. He also brings versatility on both offense and defense, averaging over 10 points per game last season. With two years of eligibility remaining, King presents a valuable opportunity for May to shape the team culture at Michigan.
