LATEST NEWS: Big East Player of the Year makes a 2024 draft declaration.

Devin Carter, a guard at Providence, tells Jonathan Givony of ESPN that he has made the decision to sacrifice his remaining NCAA eligibility and enter the 2024 NBA draft.

Carter, who is ranked as the 17th best prospect overall by ESPN’s big board, had a fantastic junior season for the Friars in 2023–24, averaging 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.8 steals in 35.3 minutes per game across 33 games (all starts). 37.7% of his 6.8 three-pointers per game were made by him, accounting for 47.3% of his field goal attempts.

Carter was the Big East’s top scorer and the conference’s Player of the Year. He started his college career at South Carolina before moving to Providence in 2022. Although he didn’t make the Associated Press All-America squad, he was given honorable mention after appearing on several ballots.

Carter is a superb rebounder for his position, has a 6’9″ wingspan despite his small stature, and Givony calls him one of the most “versatile and impactful” defensive players in college basketball. He is the son of Anthony Carter, a former NBA guard who is currently Taylor Jenkins’ Grizzlies assistant coach.

Olivia Olsen was named to the second team for the game because of an injury. With 13.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, Olsen led the team in both scoring and rebounding.
