Josiah Harris, a sophomore forward for West Virginia, has decided to enter the transfer portal as a graduate transfer, still having two years of eligibility left. In a heartfelt message to Mountaineer fans shared on social media, Harris expressed gratitude for his time with the team and the support he received. He referred to the fans as family and reflected on how West Virginia helped him grow from a boy to a man, earning not only a Bachelor’s degree but also a forthcoming Master’s degree with the university’s insignia.
Despite the difficulty of leaving, Harris acknowledged the need for personal growth and thanked the coaching staff, including Coach Huggins and Coach Eilert, for their guidance and support. He also expressed confidence in the future of the Mountaineers under Coach DeVries. Harris averaged five points and four rebounds per game in the past season and is the third player from West Virginia to enter the transfer portal since Coach DeVries took over.
With Harris’s departure, the team sees a shift in its roster, but a core group of players, including MVC Player of the Year Tucker DeVries, remains to carry on the Mountaineer legacy.
