The No. 17 Kentucky baseball team made history by sweeping No. 13 Alabama, marking its best start to SEC play ever. This impressive achievement came at Kentucky Proud Park, propelling the Cats to an 11-1 record in conference play and an overall 27-4 standing.
Kentucky’s dominance extended to winning all four of their initial SEC series this season, placing them three games ahead in the SEC East over second-place Vanderbilt (8-4) and sharing the league’s best conference record with top-ranked Arkansas.
Across the weekend series, Kentucky outscored Alabama 23-3, thanks to stellar performances from their starting pitchers and a hot-hitting offense. Trey Pooser set the tone in Friday’s opener, pitching 7.0 innings and allowing just two runs while the offense came alive to secure a 6-2 victory.
Saturday’s game saw left-hander Dominic Niman deliver a complete-game shutout, his first since Zack Thompson’s in 2019. Niman’s stellar performance, combined with strong offensive support, led to a commanding 7-0 win for Kentucky.
On Sunday, Mason Moore continued the pitching excellence, allowing only one run in 7.0 innings, while the offense exploded for a 10-1 victory, completing the series sweep.
With this momentum, Kentucky looks forward to upcoming matchups against Samford and Auburn, aiming to maintain their winning streak and solidify their position as a dominant force in college baseball.
