Trade Proposal Sends Jaguars OT Cam Robinson to Chiefs

The proposed trade involves sending a starting player worth $51 million to the Chiefs in exchange for a middle-round pick.

The Kansas City Chiefs are in need of a starting left tackle as they approach the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25. Despite having second-year offensive tackle Wanya Morris as a potential starter at LT, the Chiefs may prefer to continue developing him in a backup role while keeping him as a key emergency option for the offensive line.

With the team expected to have additional cap space after trading cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans, there’s speculation that they should target Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Cam Robinson to address their need for a left tackle. Robinson, although he has faced injuries and a suspension, is considered a solid starter and could be a proven option for Kansas City.

The trade proposal suggests that the Jaguars could consider trading Robinson for a middle-round pick if they decide to promote Walker Little to take over at left tackle. Robinson, who is in the final year of his three-year, $54 million contract with the Jaguars, has a cap hit of $21.9 million and has earned $51.9 million over his NFL career.

Acquiring Robinson for a mid-round pick could be beneficial for the Chiefs as they could address a crucial position without risking the uncertainty of a draft prospect. Additionally, they could explore extending Robinson’s contract to reduce his 2024 cap hit, giving them more flexibility for future transactions or carryover into the 2025 offseason.
